An Alumina Mordant for plantdyeing of wool and silk.
Also to use for plantfibres, the dye will not be strong as on proteinfibres.
Soft for the fibre because it does not need to be heated anymore and the fibres do not began to felt.
100g are good for about 2,5kg fibres, yarn or fabric. The quantum of water depends on the container and is not calculated to the weight of cold-mordant.
It does not matter if you use 100g for 10L water to mordant some skeins of yarn here and then or if you use it on a 150L barrel to fill it with fabric.
You will not need heat to prepare your yarn or fabric for dyeing. The mordant could be used until it is worn out.
Detailed instructions are within the delievery.
We are using the cold mordant quiet often and always having barrels filled with fabrics, ready to use for dyeing.
Sometime the fabric is in the cold mordant for about half a year without any problems.
The instructions says that you need to leave your dyers goods in the cold mordant for at least 12 hours.
Our experience says, the longer the deeper and more even the dye will be afterwards.
The effect might not be so obviously with yarn, but with fabric we recommend 3 days.
Not suitable for consumption.
