Gallnat contains a lot of tannin. It is used for brown dyes.
To make a deeper brown, add gallnut to your walnut or oak bark dye. Water both for two days before you dye.

Root of Madder (Krapp), choped
Root of Madder (Krapp) is to use for a wide range of red colors.
Best to use with chalk and wheat bran. It make the water hard and the color more full.
Madder is good to mix with other plants in one dye.

Reseda (Weld), chopped
Reseda luteola (Weld) is one of the very less plants for a light- and washproofed yellow.
It gives a very shiny, almost neon, yellow.
For all other shades of yellow you can mix it with a bit of madder, coppersulfur etc.
Reseda do like hard water, give a bit of chalk into the dye.
Decoration is not included in the delivery.

Cochineal for dyeing eggs and fibers in dark carmin up to light pink.
This dye is very productive.
It needs tartar to dissolve the color best.

We offer Cochineal in pieces and grounded.
It will always be grounded just before shipping.

It gives a shiny to golden yellow.

Most people know turmeric root as a spice.
But it is also a very old asian dyers plant.
We recommend to use chopped one and not powder for less stains.
The colour curcumin is traditional used to dye plantfibers and paper, it works fine on proteinfiber as well but anyhow, it is not really lightproof.

Sodium dithionite (Hydrosulfite) for Indigo dyes
Sodium dithionite, known as Hydrosulfite, (Na2S2O4) is used to reduce the oxygen in the vat.
Indigo is a well known vat dye.
You also can resuscitate your dye if there is still enough indigo in the pott.

Cold-Mordant (Alumina) for Plantdye

An Alumina Mordant for plantdyeing of wool and silk.
Also to use for plantfibres, the dye will not be strong as on proteinfibres.
Soft for the fibre because it does not need to be heated anymore and the fibres do not began to felt.

100g are good for about 2,5kg fibres, yarn or fabric.

You will not need heat to prepare your yarn or fabric for dyeing. The mordant could be used until it is worn out.

Calcium carbonate
Especially Reseda (dyers weld) likes hard water for a shining color, also with madder root one can change by the water hardness the color lightly.
Here it helps, to add chalk to make the water hard.
As a tip: We always take on 200 ls of water 2 kgs of chalk.
